James Sandom

Hey, I'm James. This may be your first time encountering me, so I thought I'd share my story with you, as transparency and trust between a practitioner and client is the key to a good working relationship.

All through my childhood I had difficulties managing my weight. Between the ages of 10-18 I was always on the slightly larger size, but as a keen sportsman, despite the odd sneer, it didn't stop me engaging with my friends and living a good life.

However, when I went to university, I gave up on most of my sporting endevours, swapping the tennis court and cricket square, for the pub and the late night kebab.

My weight sky rocketed, and at the end of my first year I was 106kg and clinically obese.

I set about on what turned out to be a life changing journey, learning and tackling the challenges on my own, I ended up getting A LOT of things wrong.

A year on from the start of my journey, 53kg down I was diagnosed with multiple eating disorders.

Why am I telling you all this? Well, I've experienced both sides of the coin, plus the edges and rust. My self-value and confidence was aligned with my body image for too many years. I am grateful, looking back, that I did it completely wrong because it gives me a continued eagerness to learn, and develop. After my recovery I started the journey to becoming an evidence-based nutritionist to not only provide the best quality information to help others but to learn from their journey and their experience too.

I am now thrilled to be in a position to help people do things that they have always assumed they never could, and make changes that will make them healthier all round.

I work with all individuals, all who have different goals and aims. From mindful eating to marathons, I just make sure all involved are enjoying the process and following the best evidence we currently have. Feel free to ask anything about my experiences so far and if you’re looking to start a journey, to challenge yourself and maybe learn something new, then slide into my dm’s 😉 because I’d be eager to hear about you and together we will unearth what’s best for YOU.

All the best.
James xx
